Labor Settings
Configure Labor access, workflow tracking, billing, performance, alerts, attendance, and break rules
Labor settings are organized into clear sections under Settings → Configuration (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab). Resolution follows warehouse override → team setting → global default. Leaving a warehouse value unset inherits the team value; leaving both levels unset uses the global default.
Labor Access is team-controlled. Other supported Labor sections allow warehouse overrides.
Labor Access
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Labor Alerts | Turns Labor alert evaluation on or off while preserving saved thresholds |
| Bulk Assignment | Allows managers to assign the same active job to multiple workers at once |
Turning Labor Alerts off stops manager alerts; it does not erase your threshold values.
Auto Tracking
Auto Tracking can start or switch Labor activity when a worker begins a supported ShipOS workflow.
| Setting | Workflow |
|---|---|
| Picking | Starts picking Labor when picking work begins |
| Packing | Switches the worker to packing when packing begins |
| Cycle Counting | Starts cycle-count Labor when counting begins |
| Receiving | Starts receiving Labor during purchase-order receiving |
| Put Away | Starts put-away Labor when put-away work begins |
| Replenishment | Starts replenishment Labor when replenishment begins |
Inactivity Auto-Pause
| Setting | Global Default | What It Controls |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-Pause Inactive Jobs | On | Moves an eligible system job to No Job after workflow activity stops; the worker stays clocked in |
| Auto-Pause Inactivity Timeout | 10 minutes | Minutes allowed without a successful supported workflow action |
The timeout control is shown only when Auto-Pause Inactive Jobs is effectively on. At warehouse level, an unset Auto-Pause value that inherits On from the team or global default still shows the timeout. Turning Auto-Pause off hides the control without clearing its saved value, so the same timeout returns if Auto-Pause is enabled again.
Auto-pause applies only to entries that an enabled Auto Tracking workflow has actually created, switched to, or refreshed. Merely selecting or assigning a system job does not make that entry eligible; a successful matching workflow action does. A manager-assigned next job remains queued.
Only successful picking, packing, receiving, cycle-count, put-away, or replenishment actions reset inactivity. Keeping the mobile app open, browsing the web app, or receiving kiosk heartbeats does not. Auto-pause works independently of Labor Alerts.
| Auto-Tracked Job | Activity That Starts or Resets Inactivity |
|---|---|
| Picking | Creating or starting an assigned picking session, and each successful positive-quantity pick |
| Packing | Successfully completing a packed order with at least one packed unit |
| Receiving | Accepting at least one unit on a purchase order |
| Cycle Counting | Starting a cycle count, and submitting a counted location with at least one SKU |
| Put Away | Completing a positive-quantity put-away transfer |
| Replenishment | Completing a positive-quantity put-away transfer generated from replenishment |
Failed, cancelled, empty, or zero-quantity actions do not reset the timer. The configuration tooltip shows the same list next to Auto-Pause Inactive Jobs and within each Auto Tracking workflow description.
Auto Tracking controls the worker's time assignment. Operational activity can still contribute to the matching open Labor entry when automatic switching is off.
Keep Auto Tracking and Auto-Pause settings aligned. The configuration page warns when tracking is enabled without auto-pause or auto-pause is enabled with no eligible workflow. A worker can still use the kiosk to switch work manually.
Labor Billing
These settings appear for eligible 3PL workflows.
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Work Order Auto Billing | Creates a labor charge from the matching billing rule after work-order labor is completed |
| Purchase Order Auto Billing | Creates a labor charge from the matching billing rule after purchase-order labor is completed |
| Labor Billing Rounding | Sets the number of minutes used to round completed billable duration |
| Billing Rounding Mode | Chooses whether billable duration rounds up, down, or to the nearest interval |
Test billing rules and rounding with a representative completed job before enabling automatic charges broadly.
Performance Defaults
Board Hours and Active-Time Calculation
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Live Board End of Day | Warehouse-local cutoff used to calculate the pace required to reach a daily goal |
| Hourly Board Start | First hour shown on the Hourly Board and its export, using the warehouse's local time |
| Hourly Board End | Last hour shown in the warehouse's local time; an end earlier than the start supports overnight operations |
| Interruption Threshold | Excludes long gaps from active picking-time calculations |
Productivity and Benchmark Readiness
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Default Pick Benchmark | Expected picking time used when a more specific benchmark is unavailable |
| Excellent Productivity | Hourly output at or above which an Hourly Board result is marked excellent |
| Good Productivity | Minimum hourly output marked good; lower results are flagged for review |
| Readiness Samples | Total benchmark samples required before performance is marked ready |
| Bracket Samples | Samples required in an individual complexity group |
Baseline Calculation
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Baseline Lookback | How much completed history is considered during scheduled baseline updates |
| Baseline Min Samples | Minimum completed entries needed to establish a baseline |
| Baseline Max Duration | Excludes unusually long entries from baseline calculation |
Picking-Session Score Bands
The Excellent Score, Good Score, Average Score, and Below Average Score settings define how the 0–10 picking-session score is labeled after you open a worker from Members (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) and select Picker Stats. Keep the thresholds in descending order and review them after warehouse processes or equipment change. These bands are separate from the 0–100 tiers on Performance → Picker Performance (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab).
Alert Thresholds
Idle, no-job, break, lunch, and meal-break thresholds are evaluated when Labor Alerts is enabled. Missed-clock-in notifications use the separate No-Show Alerts switch.
| Setting | Alert Condition |
|---|---|
| Break Alert Minutes | A break exceeds the allowed duration |
| Lunch Alert Minutes | Lunch exceeds the allowed duration |
| No Job Alert Minutes | A clocked-in worker remains without a job too long |
| Picking Idle Threshold Minutes | An open work entry has no recorded progress for too long |
| No-Show Alerts | Enables missed-clock-in alerts for scheduled workers |
| No-Show Threshold Minutes | The scheduled start grace period before a no-show alert |
| Late Threshold Minutes | How far after shift start a clock-in is considered late |
| Early Threshold Minutes | How far before scheduled shift end a clock-out is considered early |
Choose thresholds that a manager can act on. Very short thresholds can create noise; very long thresholds can hide operational problems.
Break Compliance
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Break Compliance | Enables meal and rest break rule evaluation |
| Meal Break Required After | Continuous work allowed before a meal break is required |
| Meal Break Minimum | Minimum duration for a qualifying meal break |
| Rest Break Tracking | Tracks short rest breaks separately from meal breaks |
| Rest Break Required After | Continuous work allowed before a rest break is required |
| Rest Break Minimum | Minimum duration for a qualifying rest break |
| Break Minimum Interval | Minimum separation between breaks before they count as separate breaks |
| Break Minimum Duration | Shortest duration treated as a break |
| Break Maximum Duration | Duration after which a break is treated as excessive |
Break compliance adds warnings and alerting context; managers should still confirm local policy and employment requirements with the appropriate company owner.
Apply a Warehouse Override
- Go to Settings → Configuration (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab).
- Select the warehouse you want to tune.
- Open the relevant Labor section.
- Enter only the values that should differ from the team setting.
- Save the configuration.
- Open the related Labor view and confirm the result.
To return to the team setting, clear the warehouse value so it shows the inherited/default state.
