Alerts & Notifications
Configure actionable Labor alerts and manage job requests, no-shows, breaks, and idle work
Labor alerts help managers find conditions that may need attention. They are operational prompts: review the worker, schedule, and recent activity before deciding what happened.
Turn Alerts On
- Go to Settings → Configuration → Labor Access (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab).
- Enable Labor Alerts.
- Enable No-Show Alerts if managers should be notified when scheduled workers miss clock-in.
- Review Alert Thresholds and Break Compliance.
- Set warehouse overrides where a facility needs different thresholds.
- Confirm the appropriate managers can receive Labor notifications.
Turning off Labor Alerts preserves the thresholds but stops idle, no-job, break, lunch, and meal-break alert evaluation. No-show detection and notifications use the separate No-Show Alerts switch.
Alert Types
| Alert | What It Means | Setting to Review |
|---|---|---|
| Idle Exceeded | An open work entry has gone too long without recent recorded progress | Picking Idle Threshold Minutes |
| No Job Assigned | A clocked-in worker has remained in no-job time past the limit | No Job Alert Minutes |
| Break Exceeded | An active rest break is longer than allowed | Break Alert Minutes |
| Lunch Exceeded | An active lunch is longer than allowed | Lunch Alert Minutes |
| Meal Break Required | Break Compliance is on and continuous work has passed the meal-break rule without a recorded break | Meal Break Required After |
| No-Show | A scheduled worker has not clocked in after the configured grace period | No-Show Alerts and No-Show Threshold Minutes |
Idle Exceeded
Check whether the worker is blocked, working outside a tracked workflow, experiencing scanner trouble, or forgot to switch jobs or clock out. Idle is not the same as unproductive; it means the available Labor activity needs review.
No Job Assigned
Open the worker and either set the active job, queue the next job, or clock them out if they are no longer working. Repeated no-job alerts often point to a handoff problem at shift start or between tasks.
Break or Lunch Exceeded
Confirm whether the worker is still away or simply missed the end-break scan. End the break or correct the time entry only after verifying what occurred.
Meal Break Required
Check the Live Board (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) compliance warning and the worker's Timeline. If a qualifying break happened but was not recorded, correct the activity rather than only resolving the notification.
No-Show
Review the schedule, call-out history, and any same-day kiosk activity. The notification includes View Schedule so a manager can inspect the affected shift.
Worker Job Requests
When a kiosk user selects Ask for Job, eligible managers receive an urgent Labor notification with Assign Job.
- Open the notification.
- Select Assign Job.
- Confirm the warehouse and worker.
- Choose the next job.
- Return to Notifications (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) and confirm the request is cleared or resolve it after speaking with the worker.
Assigning the worker's next job clears the matching request. Repeated requests from the same worker may be combined while the first request is still active.
Work the Notification Queue
Labor items appear in Notifications (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) with the other operational action items. Depending on the item, managers can:
- Take an unowned item
- Open a linked worker or schedule
- Use a primary action such as Assign Job
- Snooze an item that should be revisited
- Resolve it after the underlying condition is addressed
Resolving a notification does not change the worker's time or assignment. Make the operational correction first.
Correct an Alerted Time Entry
- Open the worker from Labor.
- Review the Timeline and current status.
- Finish, clock out, edit, delete, or add an entry as appropriate.
- Add a clear note to any manual correction.
- Return to Notifications (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) and resolve the item.
Notification Access and Preferences
Roles can separately receive:
- Labor Job Request Notifications
- Labor Alert Notifications
- No-Show Alerts
- Labor Shift Assignment Notifications
- Labor Job Assignment Notifications
- Labor Schedule Change Notifications
Individual notification preferences can also control enabled delivery channels. If one manager receives an alert and another does not, compare both role permissions and notification preferences.
Tune Alert Quality
Too Many Alerts
- Increase thresholds that do not represent an actionable issue.
- Use warehouse overrides for facilities with longer travel or break-room time.
- Correct recurring stuck entries and equipment problems.
- Limit recipients to the managers who can respond.
Missing Alerts
- Confirm Labor Alerts is enabled, or confirm No-Show Alerts is enabled for a missing no-show notification.
- Confirm the threshold has actually been crossed.
- Check the warehouse override.
- Confirm the manager has the matching receive permission.
- Check their notification preferences.
Recurring Alerts for One Worker
Review the worker's Timeline, job transitions, hardware, and training. A recurring pattern may reflect a missed process step, an unrealistic threshold, or work that is not being captured by the expected workflow.
