Account Security
Set up two-factor authentication and link Google sign-in for your Cybership account.
Security settings belong to your user account, so they follow you across the Cybership teams you can access.
Open Account Settings (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) from your user menu and scroll to the Security section.
Two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication (MFA) adds an authenticator-app code after your password when you sign in.
Enable MFA
- Under Two-factor authentication, click Enable.
- Enter your current password.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app. If scanning is unavailable, copy the displayed setup secret into the app.
- Enter the six-digit authenticator code.
- Save the eight recovery codes shown after setup.
Store recovery codes somewhere secure and separate from the device that runs your authenticator app. They can be used when the app is unavailable.
After MFA is enabled, sign-in asks for an authenticator code. The verification page also supports a recovery code.
Each recovery code can be used only once. Cross out or remove a code after using it.
Disable MFA
- Return to Account Settings → Security (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab).
- Click Disable under Two-factor authentication.
- Enter your password and a current authenticator code.
- Click Disable MFA.
Team administrators can see whether each member has MFA enabled from the MFA column on the Members page, but they cannot view a member's authenticator secret or recovery codes.
Google account
Linking a Google account adds Google as a sign-in method for your existing Cybership account.
Link Google
- Under Google account, click Link.
- Enter your current Cybership password and click Continue with Google.
- Complete the Google authorization flow.
- Return to Account Settings (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab) and confirm that the account is shown as linked.
Linking requires a regular browser session and cannot be completed while an administrator is impersonating the account. A Google account that is already linked to another Cybership user cannot be linked again.
Unlink Google
- Click Unlink.
- Enter your Cybership password.
- Confirm Unlink Google.
After unlinking, Google can no longer be used to sign in to that Cybership account. Existing Cybership password credentials continue to work.
Unlinking requires your current Cybership password. Confirm that you can sign in with that password before unlinking Google. If the account was originally created with Google and you do not have a usable Cybership password, reset the password from the sign-in page first.
If MFA is enabled, signing in with Google still requires an authenticator or recovery code after Google authentication succeeds.
