PrintNode Integration

Connect workstation printers and scales to ShipOS through PrintNode.

PrintNode connects ShipOS to printers and compatible scales through a client running on your workstation.

Setting Up the Integration

  1. Create a PrintNode account and install its client on each workstation that hosts devices.
  2. Sign in to the client. Confirm the operating system and PrintNode can see the printer or scale.
  3. Generate an API key in your PrintNode account.
  4. Open Settings → Integrations (opens the Cybership dashboard in a new tab), choose Add Integration → PrintNode, and enter the key.
  5. Connect and sync computers and printers. Name devices clearly, especially across warehouses.
  6. Open the packing station, select the appropriate printers and scale, and test the output.

Keep the workstation powered on, connected to the internet, and running the PrintNode client whenever its devices are needed. A printer being online locally is not enough if the client is disconnected.

The API key grants access to the PrintNode account. Keep it private and replace it if exposed, then update the integration.

Device Configuration

Use Printers to set device names and output formats. Match the loaded media, driver settings, and ShipOS format. Use Scales to verify the device and measured weight.

After adding a device, sync the integration and select it at the correct packing station. Review current PrintNode account limits and supported hardware in the provider's documentation.

Troubleshooting

  • No devices: Confirm the client is running under the account connected to ShipOS, then sync again.
  • No print: Check the printer's power, media, operating-system queue, station assignment, and internet connection.
  • Wrong output size: Match the printer's Format and driver paper size; check scaling.
  • Authentication error: Check the API key and account status.

Print a test from the operating system first to separate hardware problems from integration setup.
